Our spring and summer season of photo walks is now well under way at Irvine Camera Club and for those of you interested in photography, it’s a great excuse to get outdoors and explore.  Last week saw club members meet up for an evening walk around the Auchencruive Estate.

Hugging the banks of the River Ayr just outside of Ayr itself, the Auchencruive Estate is tucked away and not an obvious place to take your camera.  But with a little exploring it is full of interest and never fails to deliver interesting images.  Especially on an evening such as this when the good weather of recent walks seemed a distant memory.  Dodging showers, we headed form the car park down to the river and along to the River Garden where we spent some time watching the herons fishing on the river.

We headed back to the car park via the bluebell woods and although we didn’t get the shots we were hoping for, we got to see some wildlife, explore new areas of the estate, chatted and discussed plans for better weather and had a lovely walk. Without a camera in my hand, I would not have gone out tonight but I’m so glad I did and we managed to get some interesting shots regardless, as presented here.

Irvine Camera Club prides itself on being an inclusive club, open to anyone, any age, who is interested in photography, whatever you use to take photo’s.  Many members use their phones and some members are using older traditional methods, from film cameras to chemical developing techniques. The social aspect is an important part of what we do and who we are as club, and making friends and spending time doing something we enjoy is always at the heart of everything we aim to do.

So, if you would like to know more about photography or if any of these images have inspired you pick up a camera then you’d be very welcome to come along on one of our summer social walks.

Hi Andrew!  Just bought an Irvine Herald, (£3.70), because I saw from the Camera Club 'News' item that my Auchincruive photo is in it. However, it says 'Castle' by Donnie Briggs, instead of 'Distorted Mirror Image' by Moira Siddall!  Forgive me for having a bit of a tantrum and being rather disappointed!!

Donnie might well be disappointed too, for having my lesser photo depicted under his name!!!!  Sorry Donny.
